S9931 - Wulfenite on Calcite - $2300
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos District, Chihuahua, Mexico
Overall Size: 10.3 x 5.7 cm
|
|
|
|
|
The pursuit to find first-rate Los Lamentos wulfenites has never been easy since truly exceptional
specimens are elusive in private collections and on the current mineral market, here it is the pyramidal
crystal habit of such length (1.5 cm) that catches attention against snow-white calcite. Like the Red
Cloud mine in Arizona, the Ahumada mine is one of the few major wulfenite localities that is sought after
by collectors, but for two radically different visual reasons making a comparison impossible. Easily
recognizable collectible for centuries to come, so you can safely assume that the one shown with its
aesthetic beauty will remain valuable. If you're looking for something special...

S9932 - Azurite with Malachite - $1100
Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona
Overall Size: 8.7 x 7.5 cm
|
|
|
Probably collected before or in the early 1900's comes this gorgeous specimen. Hard to imagine a prettier
association piece for the cabinet putting Bisbee azurite/malachite combos in a league apart from others.
The elegant royal-blue clusters gravitate toward the upper half of velvety green matrix often seen in specimens
from here. Apparent these days are the lack of fine examples available due in part to age. This one was held
back for years by a private collector. A classy and slick looking piece, in all not a bad price for what you get!

As we all know abundant cassiterites from the mountainous region have been available in recent years,

feature, in the case here the spray of muscovite is fairly atypical, protruding from alike matrix. Undamaged
gleaming twin of cassiterite measures 3.6 x 3.5 cm in overall size. The growth as a pair is unique.
