S8172 - Phosphophyllite - $6500 SOLD
Unificada Mine, Cerro Rico, Potosi, Bolivia
Overall Size: 6.1 x 3.5 cm
Phosphophyllite on matrix! Loose crystals are difficult enough to find, but we infrequently see the mineral
attached to the rock even by the advanced collector! I don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate the
glowing saturated color of the species, literally emitting blue and green. The fact that it's a rare mineral in
display quality happens to be extremely desirable and considered the ultimate according to many people.
This very fine example of 6.1 x 3.5 cm in size has crystals to 2.5 cm tall. If on your hit list it is a good buy
because few collectors own a matrix piece in the larger size range along with the never-ending demand
for the mesmerizing mineral, nothing short of being superb!
