S7644 - Proustite - $2300
Dolores Mine, Chanarcillo, Chile
Overall Size: 5 x 4.5 cm
Among collectors of worldwide minerals, proustite ranks at or near the top from this location. The fact that it's
a silver arsenic sulfide with cherry-red saturation and high luster make these extremely desirable, a rare species
in display quality, the ultimate for the connoisseur. Also historically important as well, miners encountered
vugs in the 1850's, all in all matchless for the stated reasons. This choice example of 5 x 4.5 cm in size has
crystals up to 1.2 cm in length. Halogen light was used to show the hidden true red color. If on your hit list it is a
good buy, considered one of the "holy grails" of mineral collecting and forever a treasure!
