S10973 - Wulfenite - $875
Mammoth St. Anthony Mine, Tiger, Arizona
Overall Size: 5.7 x 4.2 cm
|
|
|
|
|
Outstanding wulfenite crystals are mostly found in the southwestern United States in oxidized
zones of ore deposits containing lead and molybdenum. These bright orange clusters have been
sought after for years, and today we rarely see recycled pieces offered. There seems to be two
distinct types for sale, a thicker and yellower crystal and the style shown. Without question, the one
pictured has the best color. Tabular xls reach 1.7 cm across.

S10976 - Variscite - $300
Avant, Garland County, Arkansas
Overall Size: 7.4 x 4.4 cm
|
|
Variscite is highly prized for the nodules which are usually sliced and polished in lots, yet crystals
tend to be relatively unobtainable, and I should note that all known xls are tiny. It is an
excellent example of crystallized variscite, not to pass up.

venture to say it is a one-of-a-kind. Absolute stunner for the miniature size range, geometric perfection.

Good color! This loose rich orange dodecahedral spessartine comes from one of the world-class
pegmatites in Brazil. Judging by the accompanying label and source the find has to be earlier
than 1980, in spite of the few nearly similar crystals mined in the last decade they are
quite nice.

Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico
Overall Size: 7.5 x 5.8 cm

Rare indeed, of course not the mineral pyrite, but from where it comes. The source from which
these derive has been exhausted and only on few occasions do we see any from here. At the
present time not easy to get, from old dealer stock.
