S10948 - Dolomite with Siderite - $385 SOLD
Morro Velho Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Overall Size: 4.6 x 3.7 cm
|
|
|
|
Good rhombohedral siderites are usually curved or warped brownish crystals measuring about the
same height, in this case they reach 2.1 cm in length. However, the damage free transparent
well formed colorless dolomite of 1.5 cm across is exceptional for the mine in addition to being from
the early days of operation. Great combination.

S10953 - Rhodochrosite - $685 SOLD
Sunnyside Mine, San Juan County, Colorado
Overall Size: 2.6 x 1.7 cm
|
|
|
|
Shockingly good rhodochrosite thumbnail from the Sunnyside mine! Both generations of light and dark
pink rhodos form into one of the most pleasing associations I have seen in a while. As shown in each
photo, the piece can be mounted several ways since it is a complete floater. An out of the
ordinary specimen that rarely turns up, a must see. Gorgeous!

S10954 - Hematite with Magnesite - $4500 SOLD
Brumado Mine, Bahia, Brazil
Overall Size: 7.2 x 5 cm
|
|
|
|
Now here is a specimen! Seriously the overall make up of the piece has a memorable appearance.
Not just a black hematite, the pristine hillock coated frontal face shines bright from its surrounding
incrustation of selectively placed reddish hematite. This odd attraction to some faces and not others
can be seen in other minerals, although rare. Besides the aesthetic outline, its gemmy razor-sharp
magnesites add extra contrast highlighting the main crystal for display. In all it is a superb small
cabinet specimen unlike any other we have seen. Unique!

S10956 - Quartz (Var. Amethyst) with Hematite - $1200 SOLD
Denny Mountain, King County, Washington
Overall Size: 9.5 x 5.5 cm
|
|
|
|
Beautiful inclusions of striking red hematite platelets are trapped within scepter heads locally known
as "raspberry scepters." Every amethyst sits perched atop pure white quartz making for strong
contrast, in fact these are considered some of the finest American amethystine scepters to date. Easy
to see why. A great U.S. mineral to own, plate measures 9.5 x 5.5 cm. Undamaged.

S10958 - Phosgenite - $2600 SOLD
Monteponi Mine, Sardinia, Italy
Overall Size: 4.6 x 3.7 cm
|
|
|
|
For phosgenite, one of the leading localities and perhaps most celebrated is the Monteponi mine on the
island of Sardinia. The incredible luster is truly an eyeopener, but even more astonishing is the fact that the
crystal is entirely damage free, which is a small miracle for this soft mineral. Out of the few lead deposits
where fine phosgenites occur not one of them is producing today, and existing supplies have been
nearly depleted. Therefore, we were happy to acquire such a pristine high quality matrix example.
Crystal reaches 2.5 cm across.

S10959 - Willemite - $750
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia
Overall Size: 4.4 x 4.2 cm

Combinations from here seem to never end. Probably not many Tsumeb devotees own this mix of
cadmium-rich yellow, iron-rich brown and copper-rich blue willemite on the same matrix! A
rainbow of colors that is not only attractive but mineralogically unique, and I'd bet another doesn't
show up for some time. In good condition.

Not the best vivianite locality, yet some exhibit sought after internal blue reflections that are rare for
the species. The highly lustrous spray extends out 2.8 cm. A treasure for the price, 6 x 3.7 cm.
