S11526 - Azurite with Adamite - $7500 SOLD
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia
Overall Size: 5 x 4.5 cm
|
|
The world famous minerals at Tsumeb occur in such splendid associations and perfect crystallizations, that they
exceed by far specimens from rivaling localities, and here is one example we rarely see. To be more specific,
this doubly terminated rich deep blue crystal of 3.2 cm across sits on copper-rich adamite grading into dark-
green zincian olivenite. Without question, there are some fantastic azurite combinations from the mine,
all the more reason why I believe this distinction ranks with some of the finest, and justly so! Unique!

S11527 - Serandite with Analcime and Manganoneptunite - $1400
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
Overall Size: 3.5 x 3.1 cm
|
|
|
|
Remarkable three part mineral specimen of complete, slightly etched by nature, crystals forming an outstanding
3 dimensional interlocked small miniature. These attractive orange and not pink serandites illustrate how strong
the top color can be on some crystals, or in this case number one locality for the species, but that's not all, check
out the dark red manganoneptunite perched at the intersection of contrasting analcime. Magnificent group
without damage.

S11528 - Benitoite with Natrolite - $23000 SOLD
Benitoite Gem Mine, New Idria District, San Benito Co., California
Overall Size: 5.5 x 2.6 cm
|
|
|
|
|
Extraordinary benitoite, one of only a handful in existence. The facts boil down to a single feature, and that is its
triply terminated crystal of 1.9 cm tall aesthetically placed on matrix. Think of this main crystal as being doubly
terminated or a near floater because that is pretty much what it is without falling off matrix, INCREDIBLY difficult to
find in this quality. For some reason crystals pinch out in their surrounding white natrolite, and an almost doesn't
count to be considered great, but when you are paying this kind of money there better be something about the
piece which gives it that extra boost. All retain value, yet it is the legendary bright blue that commands premium prices
as advanced collectors search endlessly for that ultra fine example. This awing triangle has THE shape from all sides
as few do making the piece extremely aesthetic in a modern sense of the word; however, in terms of rarity, I place
strong emphasis on the size of the crystal, speaking only about triples here, many only grew to less than 1 cm in size,
a big difference. As I previously stated, the two dominant features of sculptural appeal and crystal size are key to
world-class status. Such treasures have been a classic mineralogical collectible for a century, so we can be quite
certain of the limitations, after all the mine is now on the verge of being extinct. Extraordinary piece of
California history, no damage!

S11530 - Sulfur with Calcite after Aragonite - $1280
Cozzodisi Mine, Agrigento Province, Sicily, Italy
Overall Size: 15 x 6.5 cm
|
|
|
|
Cozzodisi, the greatest of the crystal producing sulfur mines, has no other locality with to compare. The well
formed lemon drop yellow crystals scream of color against contrasting white background, in this case
the faint outline of calcite replacing large hexagonal aragonite adds greatly to the piece. Sulfurs only reach
1.5 cm, but it is very showy and a large plate in person. 15 x 6.5 cm, no damage.

S11531 - Molybdenite with Fluorite - $700
Dangping Mine, Jiangxi Province, China
Overall Size: 5 x 4.4 cm
|
|
|
Surprisingly, very fine examples of molybdenite turn up only now and then. Hardly ever with fluorite, this appealing
steel gray flower growing in conjunction with a single pastel green octahedron of 3.5 cm in length makes for
a super combination held in high esteem, 5 x 4.4 cm miniature. Classy for what it is.

Easily one of the nicer fluorite with quartz associations from the area in the size range, that I can recall seeing.

quartz prism. No damage to either crystal.

I love these things and I never get tired of looking at wonderful stibnites. Resplendent long slender blades form
the stem to an offshoot of numerous crystals clinging to its midsection as seen in the photos from each side. In
terms of display, Romania and China lead the pack although not entirely comparable. In good condition.

Omaue Mine, Kaokoveld, Namibia

A high quality buy not to miss! Four marvelous dioptases up to 2.5 cm long balance very well at the apex of
sought after shattuckite and malachite incrusted matrix. Beaming green, glossy, gemmy crystals from Kaokoveld
measure up to other localities, in particular the Congo but not surpassing the great Tsumeb material. This colorful
piece, immediately recognizable as different, stands at a nice 8.2 cm high, the perfect small cabinet specimen. I
should mention, the depth of this prong-like spray in person is unbelievable from every angle. Now is the time to
grab one of these glamorous combination pieces, 8.2 x 5 cm.

Great rock! Something you don't see very often is this atypical red tipped barite specimen from the Palaiokamareza

sets off the crystals, most tend to be solid brownish red. These old barites, undoubtedly among the most distinctive
from anywhere, come from ancient workings. In good condition.
